Admittedly, I haven't been to Jack's Kitchen in a number of years, but I came across this site while looking to see if they were still around.
My family used to look forward to a happy Saturday or Sunday night take-out from Jack's. It was a ritual that started when I was a tot (and I'm--well, let's just say I'm "39 and holding").
My boyfriend, who grew up in the Downey area, also remembers dinners from Jack's Kitchen.
Jack's Kitchen served mainstream Cantonese food at reasonable prices, prepared by (a family, I presume) who did a lot of repeat business with households all over the greater Bellflower-Lakewood-Downey area; Jack seemed to know everyone's name.
We live in the San Fransisco area now, but next time we are down that way, we're going to order some take-out from a place I'm happy to know doesn't reside only on Memory Lane. |

This is a traditional Chinese Take-out place. Order ahead of time and pick-up. The dishes are outstanding--not the same-o-same-o Chinese food you find at all the Malls, Chinese stands, or buffets.
The service is friendly and home-like. The place also sports lots of collectors item to peruse while waiting for them to finish the final packing details! |
