On May 16, 2004, at around 5:30 pm, my wife and myself had the misfortune to feel hungry and in need of Chinese food in Kanab. Knowing no better, we wandered into the Wok Inn. We banged the gong for service, and out from nowhere appeared a 14 year old, tall, emaciated, white boy. This should have been our cue to leave, (after all, when was the last time you can remember being waited on by a white adolescent in a Chinese restaurant?) but it was not to be. The lad showed us to our table and handed us a menu. My wife was smart enough to order a Chinese Tsingtao beer, which turned out to be the only acceptable part of the meal. I was foolish enough to order the 'Hawaiian fried rice' (yes! in a Chinese restaurant!!) and my wife went for the more traditional Chinese staple: Mu Shu Pork. Finally, the boy arrived with the meals. Mine was rice with very small pieces (about 1/16") of ham and pineapple. Period. Did I mention taste? No need to - there was none. My wife ate about one quarter of her mystery meat dish, and sucked down the rest of her beer. The only thing missing at the table was a stomach pump.
This is truly the most disgusting and tasteless meal of ANY kind I have eaten in the 30+ years my restaurant memory goes back. Nasty, horrible, and to be avoided at any circumstance.
These purveyors of imitation Chinese food deserve to be forced to eat their own 'food' prior to going out of business. |
