I wanted to like Charlie Chiang's. I like good quality Chinese restaurants that can satisfy both Chinese food purists and those who want a slightly more American-friendly menu. (It's a good sign to me if a restaurant offers vegetable spring rolls and a bad sign if they have burgers and fries.)
I, for one am all about anything moo shu (an inclination formed when my little hands didn't like the chopsticks my parents favored), but Charlie Chiang's pancakes are tortillas. I suppose we should be happy they're not corn tortillas, but they are big, fat mass-produced white flour tortillas. There's better stuff out there. |
